The concept of a mantle has always intrigued me. The things people choose to display, what is omitted, and what is hidden in plain sight. When I finally had a mantle of my own, I wanted to fill it with things I loved: magical scenes, trinkets from my childhood, ashtrays, and art. Photographing it was a test of shallow focus. Creating it felt like a dream.
